For he who recognises himself in a message of respect for mankind and the environment. So sustainability becomes the new way of life.
We just have the courage to change!
This is part of the development strategy of the services that involve various areas of the hotel and is aimed principally at maintaining the high standard of hospitality with particular regard to respecting the environment. This demands particular commitment on the part of the hotel management but also a greater awareness on the part of the guest regarding reduction of unnecessary consumption (changing towels, sheets, soap, flip-flops, etc.)
Amongst the eco-friendly practices already in current use, STRAF advises:
Partnership with Ecoriders, providers of low-emission cars – with driver – which, thanks to the collaboration of LifeGate, guarantee zero impact transport.
Choice of low environmental-impact or ecologically certified cleaning products
Non-utilisation of toilet soaps (some 40,000 pieces used only once or twice and then thrown away every year) in favour of large liquid soap dispensers (1 litre of ecologically acceptable product) to be refilled as necessary
Change of bed linen only on request
Biologically acceptable food products
Differentiated collection of refuse in the offices and operative areas of the hotel
Creation of exclusive eco gadgets (ECObeautybag and ECObag, in natural cotton coming from ecological agriculture, water colours and other recycled or ecological compatible materials)
Recycling of printed office paper and staff made aware of a moderate use of printers
Recycling of flip-flops
Use of Eco Biker Messengers for city deliveries
Use of led room lighting in one room (test)
Acceptance and sponsorisation/support of ecological services provided by third parties (use of bicycles during the Furniture Fair, use of the “Bike Mi” service provided by the Milan City Council)
“Logical” assignation of rooms/floors to reduce power costs (heating/air conditioning)
Collaboration with “IN-VITA” ong, a non-profit association which excavates and restores wells in Mali (WWW.IN-VITA.ORG)
Forthcoming commitments:
Use of recycled paper throughout the hotel
Room bills and invoices to be issued by mail/web
Purchase of goods from “Gruppi Aquisto Solidale” (joint purchasing groups) and/or KM zero suppliers
WE ARE ALWAYS OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS AND ADVICE, CONVINCED THAT EACH, WITH LITTLE EFFORT, CAN DO MUCH!
